Hydrocarbons Off: The first Australian mine site to be powered by 100% solar energy.
Hybrid Systems Australia designed and delivered a 1.2MW solar farm, 350kWh BESS and 2MW diesel plant for the Tellus Sandy Ridge facility, located approximately 240km north-west of Kalgoorlie in remote Western Australia.
The microgrid system, delivered in 2020 under a Build-Own-Operate agreement, can power the entire Sandy Ridge facility ‘hydrocarbon free’ during daylight hours using specialised energy management software that was developed in-house by Hybrid Systems Australia.
This industry-leading system makes Sandy Ridge Australia’s first mine site to be 100% powered by solar, and, on average, more than 50% of the total site load provided by renewable energy.
